recomendation reqd for speakers

besides POLK can anybody recommend GOOD QUALITY 6.5 inch marine speakers 100w each...I currently have POLK MM651UM............THANKS

Wetsounds 650 series in your choice of black or white.

Tht being said, lemme know when you're done with your looks and I will take them! Seriously I am in the market for pols 6.5s.

I had to have one replaced under warranty and honestly it was a pain to deal with. They sent me the wrong one the first time (silver grille instead of black) so if I have another die soon I can just swap it out switching the grille. I was talking to another owner who has the same exact boat who had 2 go out. Once I use the spare that I have I will pull them all once the next one goes and switch to something else, wetsounds is at the top of my list. I had great respect for Polk but the one that failed on me had the voice coil short out on the midrange, resistance went to infinity. I didn't tear it apart to inspect since it was going back for "free" replacement but it was pretty annoying.

Apparently the silver grille MM651UM is the waterproof speaker for boats and the black grille MM651 is the car speaker

You can pull one out and check, mine are black as well but they are the UM, the case on the back with the crossover included is completely different than the non marine version. The silver one I have is exactly the same with the exception of the grille. They list both as being available but only had the silver. They had to order one special from the east coast as they didn't have them in the west coast. They said something about Nautique special ordering them, the grille is the only thing different and its easily swapped out so I still have the silver one they sent me for the next time.

JL Audio M650's are unbelievably loud and clear! I am driving them with an alpine 75 x 4 amplifier, and you cannot hardly scream over them. Been blasting them for two years and not a problem yet. Big step up from the polk's the boat came with.
