    Accessory Switch For Amplifier

I want to be able to turn my tower speakers off with the flip of a switch while the rest of the stereo is operating normally. They are on their own amplifier and I figured that I would do this by interrupting the amp remote wire as it is the last amp in line on the remote. I did this on an old boat an auxiliary / accessory switch. The 2005 SANTE with the Clarion head unit that I'm running now doesn't have any spare switches. Has anyone added switches or accomplished my ultimate task in a way that doesn't look like a teenager did it?

You can always find a matching switch or find a place to add a switch. And the switch for the dedicated amplifier can be in line after the source unit remote out. You can even use a foot switch with a latching relay.
If you already have a fader control that is being used as a zone control for the tower speakers then why can't that be the solution. The tower amplifier in the idle mode is only consuming a couple of amps.

To answer the question you asked, I would go with a bracket like this under the dash somewhere. You could put a simple on off switch on it and it wouldn't even be seen.

If I were you I would invest in an audio eq. (if you don't already have one) This way you can separate your sub, cabin speakers, and tower speakers. It's impossible to have them all balanced perfectly all the time because sometimes you are wake boarding, sometimes you are surfing, and sometimes you want it quiet in the boat. Being able to adjust the components independently at the turn of a knob is convenient.

The switch is a great idea as well tho.
