New Stereo; Got a question.

I just installed a new reciever/cd/mp3 player and there is a wire in back labeled for illumination. It says to connect to the appropriate illumination wire. Does anyone know which wire this might be on a 96 SS? The stereo is an Alpine car stereo.

You don't need it. It's for dimming along with your interior dash lights in a car. Just leave it disconnected.

Thanks, I have not had the boat out in the evenig where I had the lights on yet to see if it lights up or not. I can see the display during the day, so I thought it might. I will try it tonight.

You could tie it to your anchor/nav lights to dim the HU when these lights are on at night; but I agree that it is not really necessary on a boat.
