    Clarion AMP keeps going out

New Clarion AMP installed by dealer on SV-211 went bad when radio was turned on. Replaced with 2nd AMP, worked 4 days and went out. Power is hot to the AMP. No blown fuses. No power indication on AMP. What gives?

Is your ohm load right on the amp? The Clarion amp is 4 ohm, if someone wired your speakers to a 2ohm load it could be the prob.

CHECK that drain hole for cooler, if above amp, has a hose going to the bilge; vs dripping on amp.

          AMP

Yes, the AMP is located right under a vent on the port side. There is a vent
on the SV-211 right under the windshield and under inspection after a mod.
rain, the AMP is wet. Will this short the AMP out?

I beleive you found your problem, water and electronics don't mix, I don't care what the label says. I am surprised a dealer mounted it where water could get it so easily.

It's probably not water, but heat. If your amp keeps going out and in a short while comes back on, I doubt that it's a short caused by water. (Fuse blown?) The Clarion amp, as most amps, has a protection circuit that will shut the amp off when it gets too hot. To test, pull the front cushion and run your boat as you normally would. This will allow more air to reach the amp and should help it to cool.

Sorry - reread your post, it sounds like it is dead and doesn't come back on.
