2014 Lync System USB and Video functions

I noticed in the 2014 200 OB manual that there is a video function on the Lync system. I have a GOPRO 2 that I use for waterski training videos. On my old boat I had to take the camera out and plug it into my PC at home to view. I am wondering if anyone has tried the GOPRO connected to the USB Lync system in video mode? That would be very cool to be able to view these videos on the boat.

The Change View soft key toggles through the different views available on the home screen. They are:
    • Engine Statistics
    • Engine Hours and Air and Water Temperatures
    • Map view
    • 3 Event view
    • Video view

It looks the same as on my 210, if you look in the little cubbie to the left of the wheel there should be a single RCA video in link. It should be a female to female adapter with a male cable plugged into in that runs up to the display.

That would be where it gets the video from, the usb port should just be to interface with the display for update or diagnostic purposes. The one in the glovebox is just connected to the stereo which doesn't factor in the video display. You can get a composite video cable for the Hero2 and its easier to playback than the 1 but not a lot. Its a lot of work to look at video on a little ~3" square and have to control it from the camera.

I have the wifi backpacks and can control them from my phone and/or tablet. You can look at low resolution video playback that way as well. I could use the video out and convert it from mini hdmi but I would think its more trouble than its worth. I just got a waterproof case for my 7" tablet and a windshield mount and it works well enough, if I want to see the video in higher resolution and full screen before I get home I just pull the SD card out of the camera and pop it in the tablet (so long as you have a lower tech device that has that option ;-) ) which is why I have a micro sd card in an adapter in the gopro.

Yeah, it uses the .LRV file for preview. Get the app and try it out, its not that bad.... They have some file sizes on the website for the 3, should be similar to the 2 for the resolutions they share. http://gopro.com/support/articles/he...ze-information
