    JL AUDIO vs WETSOUNDS

Just looking for some input. Im going to be installing new amps and speakers in my G23 this winter and wanted some help deciding which brand to use. I will be choosing the high end marine grade stuff from either company. I like my music clean and loud. Thanks.

Both products are at the top of the food chain but can do different things. So the ideal product and choice should be based on your application and expectations. At this point, we don't know enough about your system vision.

you gota get more specific for folks to help you.

Are you talking in boat speakers, or on the tower? How do you use your boat? What are you looking for? Budget?

Try to listen to both as they are very different. I greatly prefer the full sound of JLs pushed hard. WS are often perceived as being louder behind the boat in most systems. But it is really personal preference.

I also feel the wetsounds tweeters are more harsh to the ear than the JL, which is probably why some think the JL has a more full sound.

Vote JL inboats and wetsounds on tower with ws eq to crank the tower down when not riding and give great control of subs.

do you have a proper audio shop to do the install? i believe the JL m-series will require you to increase the size of the in boat speaker cut outs where the wet sounds 650's will not. i really don't think you can go wrong with either brand, but on the tower wet sounds wins every time.

I replaced the cabin Polks in my G23 with the smaller JL Speakers and even with the Polk amps, the improvement in sound was amazing. Need to redo how Nautique attached the speaker covers. Has to be the worse design I have ever seen.

Give Tom a LiquidAudioSounds a ring if you want a deal on JLs.

Actually, Odin with Earmark is a great source for both JL Audio and Wetsounds since he is an authorized on-line dealer for both brands. Otherwise, you receive no warranty as clearly stated by both manufacturers.

Odin has some great price packages and his technical support is the very best.

i say just go all the way and do a xxx sub, pair of rev 410's, and 650's or JL mx series in the boat, a 420eq, amped at least 100w over rms, and a sweet battery setup.

I would skip the 420 and swap the head unit and transom remote to the Fusion unit that's in the 2014 Mastercraft's - in just playing with it, it seems to be a more useable piece where you can control tower, cabin, bow, and sub independently through the remote at the helm.

I'm running a mixture of Wetsounds and JL equipment. I've got one JL 12 W7 in a sealed box, running off of a 1000 watt Kicker ZX1000.1. At the time when I purchased and installed everything, Wetsounds didn't have their subwoofer line. If they did, I would've gone with it. The JL equipment just needs too much power. They're totally inefficient. They require big power, and big batteries. I've got three in my SAN 220. The sub is loud and clear, but there are definitely better options. As far as going for tower speakers - Wetsounds. They've become an industry leader and have filled the niche market. I'm running a pair NVS Prodigy's and at the time, they were competitive alternatives to Wetsounds. Since NVS has dropped out of the market, there's no one else thats offering the same time of product, support, and customer service that Wetsounds is.

I'm not an Exile fanboy.... as I have both Exile and Wetsounds in my boat.... but Exile straight blows every other brand away in customer service, warranty, all of it... hands down. This statement is just not accurate.

Wetsounds sells great products... and overall great service... but Exile is in a whole other category as I have dealt with both over the last 5-6 yrs.

In fact... I have never heard ANYTHING other than this from Exile customers. They are they good.

You just dont hear as much about them because many vendors dont carry their line for whatever reason.... so you dont see their name being pushed out there as much. Go check out Wakeworld and Malibu Crew.... they have a cult like following and I understand why.

I've heard of Exile audio, but I had no idea they've grown that large. I remember a few years back when they were just getting started and I figured it was just going to be another wanna-be brand that would soon fall out. I'm glad to see they're doing well - and most of all, I'm glad that there's another competitor in the market that offers a similar product. The more choices the better.
