    Momo speaker grills in interior

So I have an 02' with the XMD1, amp, sub, and clarion speakers. It's not a bad setup and get's the job done, but seeing all these stereo setups makes me want more, I know some of you can relate. I was figuring on upgrading everything that is easy before doing the alternator/4 batteries massive amps thing. That would basically include head unit and speakers for now.

Right now I have the cloth grills built into the upholstry. They are fairly ambiguous, and don't pose any comfort problems. I really do like the way the MOMO grills look when they overlap on the upholstry and figure that might not be a bad way to go as far as upgrading the clarion speakers. I know there are much better speakers out there, but am hesitant due to diminishing sound quality return in a boat anyway.

Anyone have any thoughts good or bad about the grills being part of the interior?? Or am I better off just leaving the cloth over them?? Will the polks even fit under the cloth grill?? The tweeter seems to protrude a good deal.

    Thanks in advance.

RE: Momo speaker grills in interior

I have converted a couple of boats to polk momo speakers that had the cloth speakers and it was not to hard just you have to pay attention to the holes as you have to shim out the passsenger side front and the bow speakers to get the flush look like the 05. You have to remove the speaker from the back side of the pad then remove the two screws that hold in the mesh grill then remove the staples from the vinyl and remove the ring on the inside of the panel then restaple the vinyl down around the cut out in the foam and then install the speaker, don't forget to mount the crossover somewhere and hook up the wiring.
