    05 SANTE stereo

    Folks,

I just picked up a new to me 05 SANTE. It doesnt have the radio but it has the wired clarion remote. Anyone know what model clarion head unit came in the 05's?

Does anyone have an older working unit that they want to sell?

My plan is to just get something in there and then upgrade everything at a later date if needed.

Thanks for the help in advance.

In 05, it could have been either an XMD-3 or a CMD-4. Are the remotes round or oval? The round remotes were released about the time the CMD series launched. Also, you can measure the bolt hole spacing for the head-unit. The XMD and CMD units had different footprints.

Thanks for the info! The remote is oval shaped.

The 2005 SANTE has the Clarion XMD3. I have just replaced my XMD3 with a CMD6. MLA is correct regarding the foot print....What a pain to convert the setup. I have my XMD3 that came out of my 2005. My XMD3 worked when I purchased the boat, but after the first interior wash job, it never worked again. I checked the fuses, power, ground, everything checked good. So I upgraded to the CMD6. I could not find another XMD3 when I started this task. If you want my old XMD3 PM me. I got the remote too.

Maybe it looks like the one from my 06. I think I just missed a newer model.

yes I'm still missing the rubber doodad.

barefootinJimmy, What did the CMD6 with new remote and bezel end up costing you?

Threads like this make me so glad my boat uses a traditional single din headunit. Good luck finding a good solution.

Both the XMD and CMD series are single DIN units, requiring the same 2 x 7 cutout. They just happen to have an over sized face like Alpine, Fusion, Sony and Rockford marine units.

The XMD offsets the 2x7 chassis slightly to the top, and the CMD offsets the 2x7 chassis slightly to the bottom. This means the CMD replacement could have a clearance issue with the glove box lid. Not to mention the outer screw hole location differences.

Thanks for the help everyone. I ended up going with the M303 and i am going to make an adapter plate for the headunit. Also going to go with a new MW1 remote.

Now the question is...what amp should i go with? I am not looking to blow people out of the water but i want to have a good sound. At this time i am just going to go with the speakers in the boat(6 total), the tower speakers(2 total...might go to 4 at some point), and the factory sub.

I just read the other post about what amp but having a hard time following.

Can anyone offer suggestions on what they think would be best? 2 or 4 channel? What came in the boat factory? Did it work OK?

                    Thanks

The Kicker KXM800.5 will power your 6 in-boats and offer 200W rms to a 4 ohm sub or 400W rms to a 2 ohm sub.

What tower speakers? My suggestion may change based on exactly what speakers you have or are going with. The Kicker KXM400.4 will deliver 100W rms to each speaker, whether 1 pair of 2. So its perfect for traditional coaxials.

                        MLA,

Thanks for the response. There are 6 in boat speakers and they are Polk Momo. The sub is the same brand. I also believe that the tower speakers are the same as well. So everything is factory and just looking to get something to get me some decent sound with the current speakers and sub.

With that info any more suggestions?

                        Thanks
