When I enter my code on the keyless ignition and hit "start, start" I get a loud pop on the speakers or a split second. Any ideas what is causing this. Once the boat is started and I start/stop the boat it doesn't happen. Only when the boat is started from a "dead stop". Any help.

Yes I have an amp and it would not turn off after I did what I will explain further down this post. I think there is a red wire to the remote.
The pop or amp not turning off has never happened until I made a switch and plug to trick the cd changer 13 pin din plug into playing my ipod. I got the wire diagram from this forum. I initially plugged the wire aparatus in upside down and maybe crossed two wires over. It didn't blow a fuse; however, it just didn't turn off the amp when the boat was powered down and it made a loud pop when I start the boat for the first time.
I have pulled the stereo and am looking to buy a xmd3 or model that has the RCA auxillary jacks. Do I need another wiring harness or will the plug for the 5475 work on the XMD3?

maybe ground loop
I had the same problem on my 99. It was a ground loop caused by faulty rca plugs on my deck. Popping would occur when ignition was turned on and channels were changed. Check your grounds and then maybe your deck.Mine would only do it when rca were used not the harness on deck. Hope this helps

RE: maybe ground loop
Not quite the same but i had a alpine unit in my car and would get the popping noise when it turned off the engine, i took it to the dealer and it turned out the internal settings were set incorrectally and the head unit was turning off befor it had time to turn the remote power to the amp off.
