    97 Ski Nautique Speaker Replacement

Trying to find out the size of my speakers for my 97 Ski Nautique. Also looking to see if anyone has mounted thier speakers on the outside, b/c my cloth has been torn on 2 and it looks like crap. So I thought that maybe I could mount them on the outside. Also any recommendations, I am looking at some Alpine Type R or Polk Momo.

    BLovell,
I put Alpine 6.5" type R's in my boat, and am quite happy with how they sound. The cutout for the speakers was JUST too small for the speaker, and the center tweeter would have been pushing out on the cloth. I wasn't feeling brave enough to enlarge the hole, so I just mounted the speaker using the plastic cover (where the speaker grill attaches to) as a spacer in front of the speaker.
Anyways, like I said before, I'm quite happy with how they sound.

The speakers are most likely 6.5" marine speakers made by clarion. The most important part when replacing the speakers is to make sure they seal against the mounting panel that acts as the speaker baffle. If they don't seal very well, don't expect much bass.
