CCAIPOD CMD5 and ipod/iphone

Hi all, this may be a question for the experts or perhaps people who use a CCAIPOD.

I currently use my CMD5 with iPhone plugged in using 3.5mm jack and also use an app called "Volume Adjuter" (no i didn't make a spelling mistake) Which works very well to control volume vs boat speed.

My question is will the app continue to control volume if i plug in a CCAIPOD?

I want to say no, because they typically only control the level of the head-phone jack as its assumed by the apps' creator that the person will be running, biking, etc, and be using headphones.

Just in case anyone comes across this in the future.. These apps do not control volume output of docking/charging port. Bluetooth and audio out connector only.

I have a cmd5 with the ccAipod and aux input. Typically I leave the iPod in the glovebox plugged into the ccAipod and use the iPhone through the aux-in by the driver. I also have a Bluetooth adapter I use with aux in when I want to leave the phone in my pocket at a beach or dock. The ccaipod connects to the line out port and bypasses the iPhone preamp volume controls rendering any volume related apps non-functional. Also. I don't believe the ccAipod will work with an iPhone 5. I have tried 2 different adapters and neither worked, some might but I'm over it. I have a new little docking Bluetooth adapter I will try next. It works great on my boombox with docking station.

Direct connect seems so yesterday now. I use Bluetooth to link to almost everything these days including my home audio system (when not using Sonos).

Yeah Mikeski, it's a bit of a stuff around.
To the point where I was willing to replace the CMD5 for something with bluetooth. But I have the round remote mounted on the drivers side and it seems any stereo with a round remote doesn't meet my other criteria.

A bluetooth adapter was an option, tryed one and it picked up a tonne of engine noise, but if spending money on a decent one it seems like a waste when I could put that towards a new HU with bluetooth AND 4v pre outs, which is another issue i'm having, one of my amps has gains set on 100% I can only assume because the signal is too low from the CMD5's average 2v output.

So if anyone can recommend a HU with these features please let me know.

Ive use a number the Wet Sounds blue tooth receiver with no unwanted noise, but with any wired device, where its terminated is key. It will connect right to your CMD5's rear AUX inputs with a 3.5mm to RCA cable

If you amp gains are that high, then it might be that you need an amp with more power, not a higher line level. 2V is fine, but yes 4V is better, but 2V does not warrant maxing the gains out, something is amiss.

If you want or feel the need for a higher lone level, look into something like the Wet Sounds WS-420, Kicker KQ5 or Arc Audio line driver

Az, one more piece of advice... Add an EQ to your system where it is close to your finger tips. I have been using EQs on my boats for the past 10 years and they make a big difference. I too have the round remote but I also have the rf remote from H2O waves (and other marketers with the same thing). The EQ eliminates the need for more than 1 set of outputs and more than 1V making the CMD5 as good as one with those features.

I recently installed a Clarion M303 in my slalom boat and it seems to work well so far. That boat doesn't even have an amp yet but it will before it hits the water again. No EQ yet either but I have one in a box ready to go in as soon as I have the time to install it.

This was my original conclusion but I cannot find a problem. The amp in question is running at 450wrms x 2 powering the 10" drivers of my DIY HLCD system, also being the most powerful (of the 3) amps in the boat. The compression drivers run off a separate amp, btw this is a great setup to tune in the effeciency differential. For the record this setup is VERY loud and easily comparable to any other 10" HLCD, however the gains are right up and the HU goes to max before clipping or distortion.


Mikeski: what exactly do they make a big difference to?
I don't particularly want zone control at my fingertips, or to fiddle with things on a regular basis. My opinion is (inexperienced from an eq POV) that it's just one more place to introduce noise.
