    Led strip lighting

So I bought a little over 30 feet of waterproof led strip lights. I was planning on running them in the boat. I was thinking that I could possibly make some led cup holders. My thought was to buy clear tubing. The same kind that rope lights have then run the led lights in the clear tubing with the wires out on each end an silicon them together to make a circle. They would all be connected together. The stainless cup holders would rest on the tubes under the lip on the cup holders. I know some guys have used plexiglass but thought this might work just as well. Any comments or suggestions would greatly be appreciated. I'm also running the lights under the gunnels and under the driver dash possibly under the lips of the seats. Any suggestions on this would also be appreciated. Thanks

Jax, I think what you are describing will work but I have two thoughts. How thick is the tubing going to be, it might looks weird if it's too thick and the cupholders are propped way up. Secondly how are you going to deal with the seam where the two ends of the tube meet? That may end up looking funny if the seem is really noticeable. I'm always shocked how expensive LED rings are so I like where your head is at but I'm not sure how well your idea will work. The good news is it won't cost you much to get a little bit of tubing and try one out to see how it works before you spring for the rest of the material. Good luck and please report back.

I bought it all off ebay. They are 5050 led waterproof strip lights. In the search bar on ebay just type in "waterproof led strip lights" and a bunch will pull up. The come in 16 foot rolls. I think I paid $9 per roll. You can get the multicolored strips with the controller for like $25. They claim 50,000 hours and only pull 1.6 amps for every 16 foot

The led strips are only, maybe 1/4 wide so I was thinking 1/4 inch tubing from the hardware store. It won't be big. My plan was to stretch the tubing around the cupholder under the lip until the tubing touches each other. Then put the led strip in the tubing. The strips have 3m adhesive on the back so they would glue to the inside of the tube. I would then pull the wires from the strip out of the tubing where it meets. Use clear silicone and let it dry. I'm going to give it a shot and I'll post pictures on how it turns out.

This information was great. I found them for $9 and I ordered (2) white and (1) blue. I was ready. Then last night I got a message from the selling company saying they had a fire, lost stock, and are not filling orders. The refunded my money but now I need to find an alternate source is the states.

So if anyone else finds these for $9 from acc-mart, don't bother ordering from them right now... 😔😔
