Wetsounds WW-BT-VC Bluetooth Device

Interested in installing the Wetsounds WW-BT-VC Bluetooth Device. Will most likely mount under the dash. My question is what is the best way to power this device. Have it only turn on when I use radio auxillary through the linc system somehow? Looking for the stereo techie to provide some help with power/ground and cable wires. Boat is a 2013 230.Thanks!

I have mine (should be similar enough to your 230) mounted in the plastic panel where the useless video connector and audio/usb port is without the trim ring. The reason it is so far to the right is because of the depth of the storage compartment that is to the left (door slightly open in pic) and mine is wired into the factory audio connector via a 3.5mm to RCA adapter and a couple of RCA Y adapters so the factory port is still operational even if it is never used.



Best way to power anything you are inserting into the signal path is to go back to the same single source for everything. The volume control has a pretty low amp draw but I don't know that you would want to power it directly from the remote turn on from the head unit. If you wanted it turn on and off with the stereo then you could use a basic relay to draw power from the same place as the rest of the equipment and use the remote turn on as a trigger.

I didn't go to that extreme for mine, there is a power port in that storage compartment connected with spade connectors that ends up just behind where the volume control and I just tapped into that with a couple of y adapters I made up with some fully insulated spade connectors. I could have easily gone back to stock if there was noise or if I relocate it when I add an EQ with just a snap in plug to fill the hole. I like that it powers on as soon as I turn the battery on as it makes it more convenient to pair my phone and I don't plug anything into that power port that would exceed the fuse rating.

You absolutely do not want to connect the BT's red B+ to the head-units blue turn-on circuit. Its not meant to actually power anything, but only supply a 12V trigger. But more so, its not a clean 12V circuit that you would want to power something in the audio signal path. The red B+ and black ground need to share the same battery source as the rest of the audio gear. This is especially important in boats with dual battery banks.

No reason that the BT cannot be on when the battery is on, but if one only wants it on when the stereo is on, then as suggested above, use a relay thats supplied by the audio battery source and trigger it with the blue turn-on circuit.

I don't mean to hijack the thread here, but I am also considering this eq for my boat and wanted to know if this turns the stereo into a wireless mp3 player. So freaking tired of using the auxillary wire to play my tunes.

The Wet Sounds BTVC is a bluetooth receiver only, its not an equalizer, unless you are referring to the newly announced WS-420BT? Its the WS-420 equalizer zone volume control now with BT built in. But yes, Bluetooth is wireless between your bluetooth capable music source and the receiver. All the BT receiver needs is an AUX input on your head-unit or existing EQ.

Anybody know how many devices can be paired with this device? I want to install one in my boat but would like to have more than one device paired to it. Thanks.

Manual doesn't say, I believe we have had 3 different devices paired with mine, 2 we use regularly but you cant force it switch to another device if its already connected to one, you have to go into the phone/mp3 player to disconnect it to switch to another. My buddy was riding and his phone was locked and the mp3 player crashed and there was nothing I could do to get music going again until we could get his phone unlocked.
