    Help Needed: 2003 SAN Stereo

    Hey Guys,
    I was just getting the boat pulled out and 'summerized'. I got a new battery this year and wired it up, the terminals are backwards to my existing, and I botched the connections and wired one backwards. After freaking out and disconnecting everything, let it cool down and set it up correctly. The boat started just fine. But now my stereo is not working...

    I did blow the ANL 200 fuse that is inline to both amps. Since been replaced.

    I checked all stereo in line fuses and they are intact. There is minimal to no draw on the yellow (memory?) line to the CMD4. The yellow will spike a .2-.1 reading when first connecting the multimeter, but then drops down to 0.
    The red main power has a constant 10.98 volts.

    What am I missing?

    Any and all suggestions are helpful. Thanks!

    Time for a stereo upgrade! It might be a blown fuse on a circuit board but it might be totally cooked. Stereos do not like to be reverse polarized.

      Many of these older HUs have an internal fuse or a fuse in the back of the HU in addition to the inline fuse... Suggest you pull it out to verify

        Thanks for the reply. I check both the 15amp on the yellow power lead and the 1 amp on the red ignition lead. Both were intact.


        Is there any breaker for the stereo that may be tripped?

          I would give it the old sniff test. If it smells burnt replace it. Not the most scientific way to test it but it works to reveal something electronic has cooked more often than you would think.

            I will give it the old sniff test. Hopeful that it is not fried as I just bought from a member on here at the end of last season!

            I am also going to try a jumper that I know has a good constant 12v on it. I am just not confident in the yellow that is not showing a good voltage reading.

              Did the same thing accidentally in my early boating years, got off lucky...no ECU or expensive components but I did fry the clarion deck...powered up, showed signal, spun the CD but the amp was toasty. Cant remember anything but the old dixie had a nice sound system after that.
              And have others stated, the deck may have one externally mounted on the chassis.

                I mad a jumper power lead from my amp distribution panel and the deck powered up perfectly fine. Still perplexed around why the normal harness doesn't have a constant power anymore. More testing to figure that out I guess. Thanks for the help guys!

                  Are you sure there is not an inline fuse under the dash to the deck lead?

                    There is a fuse but I connected before it to keep the fuse in line. I traced the yellow without back to the main harness and it still shows no constant power.

                    Are there any other fuses besides the 15 amp in the harness of the deck itself?

                      Have the same problem with my yellow radio wire having no voltage. Where did you find the 15amp fuse??
