Here are some pictures of my amp and sub install. I don't have a ton of money so I'm using some old school amps that I had in my car when I was in college and grad school. (early 90's OUCH)
There are no screws or fasteners holding it in the boat. What I did was remove some of the foam at the top, I had to remove some anyway for the tower install, and then formed a tight fitting fiberglass shell that matches the hull of the boat exactlly.
You may notice the little lip that is at the bottom. That part grabs on nicely to the rubber strip that is already in the bottom of the boat floor. After I made the fiberglass form, I fabricated 2 wooden bosses and then glassed them on. I then used fiberglass resin to cover a 1/4" piece of plywood. After everything was adequately sealed, I covered it with carpet, drilled my holes for running the wires, mounted the amps, and attached to the bosses on the fiberglass forms.
Let me know what you think.
The only problems were woking with fiberglass in a small inclosed space. I didn't have a full respirator so I used some higher end dust masks which didn't work for shiznit. I may have killed some brain cells during the fiberglass portion of the procedure. It was a fun project and everything sounds GREAT.
Let me know what you think.
