Hey guys, just picked up a pair of Rev8's and an HT6 amp to power them from Earmark Marine. Installed them this weekend. I have an '05 SANTE with stock clarion headunit and polk in-boat speakers. I had the stock clarion amp powering the in-boat speakers and another smaller amp powering some old tower speakers. I removed the stock Clarion amp and old tower speakers. Used the smaller amp to power the polk in boat speakers. Wired the new HT6 using stock power and ground cables that were hooked to the Clarion amp. Hooked the HT6 up to the pair of Rev 8's (bridged channels 1 and 2 as well as 3 and 4). I have 2 channels left that I will bridge and run a sub off of. Everything worked well at the house. Once I was on the water yesterday, the Rev8's were picking up some interference when the engine was running. I had the same issue on another boat one time, and installed a filter on RCA cables which got rid of about 50% of the noise. Any other suggestions? After about 45 minutes of playing the amp went into thermal protection mode and was pretty dang hot to the touch. I'll admit I am no expert on tuning amps, but does anyone have any thoughts? I was not pushing the amp hard at all. Gains are turned only about a third of the way from 0. I mounted it using spacers to allow air to circulate behind it. I have a dual battery setup. I hope some of you audiophiles can help me out. Thanks

You probably have a ground loop issue. If you have adual battery setup then you probably have a conventional dual batteryswitch. To eliminate any potential for a ground loop all helmelectronics, alternator/starter feed, and ALL audio electronics should bewired to the C post (output post) of the dual battery switch. Furthermore,it's always a good idea to take the head unit switched power, memory power andground directly to distribution blocks closest to the primary terminals of youramplifiers (this scheme changes if you have a ACR/VSR). A ground loop isolator will help, but I don’trecommend it because it treats the symptom but leaves the core problem intact.
If you have any questions about addressing this feel freeto send me an email or give me a call and I can help.
