10 " sub trim ring install need help.

I had a trim ring fabricated to install the infinite baffle sub in a 2013 210. Am I to assume the ring goes on the inside of the panel or outside? Also it seems the sub is too deep to fit in the location. Help is much appreciated.

They put mine on the inside so the speaker sits flush as intended. What sub are you trying to put in there? The JL IB fit perfectly in my stock location.

A woofer baffle ring serves two purposes. Adds rigidity to the coaming panel. Offers a better material to seat the woofer mounting screws into. The ring gets pre-loaded from behind and the set screws are concealed by the woofer's outer rim and grill. So having to frontload the ring behind the panel often requires a split ring or 2-piece ring unless you have access from behind.
If the sub is too deep then a trim/spacer ring might be necessary. The trim ring could be vinyl clad birch or KingStarboard.

Thanks seeing that the internal wall was reinforced with an added thickness of fiberglass factory stock I am going to use the birch ring on the outside to keep the sub from resting against the hull.
