Installing new Amp, speakers, and head unit

I'm installing some new items on our old 95 super sport.

JL Audio M series tower speakers and a M600 amp, Kenwood head ( all marine )
I was reading the amp's owners manual and it was stating to run a 4AWG wire from the Alt to the battery.
I don't think my alt wire runs to the battery( ill have to check)

Just wondering if any of you guys do this?

Also , our amp is going to be towards the front of the boat under the drivers side, Is it typical to run 4AWG from the battery in the back all the way to the amp in the front, or just install a second battery in the front?

Appreciate any help or advice, Thanks

Run the 4awg power and ground from the amp to the battery. Make sure you have a fuse within 18 inches of the battery on the power wire

I ran 4awg from battery in the trunk to my amp behind driver's kick panel. A good amp should have a fuse where the 4awg connects and as stated above, fuse it at the battery end. Easy to run under the gunnel and zip tie to existing pvc pipe that original wires run. If you have dual batteries you can connect to the the non starting battery.
