Amps Getting Wet

Hey, guys. I've got a 2012 SAN 230 and am now on my my 3d Wetsounds amp for the tower speakers. Water damage is the issue. It's mounted just above the factory installed amp under the passenger glove box. I'm having the wetsounds dealer build a ventilated, water-tight box for the amps but am wondering if anyone else has had this problem or if anyone has some insights into how it's getting so wet in there. It gets caught in a lot of rain in the summer but I just don't understand how it's getting we in that spot.

Been there, done that, fixed that. Water, in my case, was coming in from the horn cover, tower leg, hole drilled on deck for wires or all of the above. Abs plastic bent with a heat gun and some abs blocks mounted to the backer plate. Added the clear plexi for giggles. It has a large Wetsounds decal on it now, looks better.

Txjole pointed out the likely entry points. Another common leak point, at least on the earlier 210s, is the hull/deck bond.

On my boat, I was getting water under the observer seat and we couldn't figure out where it came from. The dealer pulled the rub rail and sealed the deck joint, but the water persisted. I eventually traced it to the docking lights. The water stayed fairly high along the side of the hull--probably wicked by the carpet. The floor area under the observer seat would get soaked.

I would start by attacking the source of the water. Fix that, and an elaborate shroud or cover may not be needed.

I will add I did re caulk the wire hole, made a fabric skin out of an outerwear pre filter I had to go under the horn vent. Have not seen water since. I built the cover as added security. Plus it keeps bags and towels from laying on the amps and over heating them. Cheap insurance since everything I used was scrap laying around. They don't give these amps away$$$$$$$

I had water issues through horn port. I used a small piece of black goretex and sealed it up to the hull and horn cover. totally invisible and waterproof. can still hear horn too!
