    RCA/12V Kit Installation

I have a 2004 Ski Nautique 206 SE with the XMD3 Clarion Source Unit. I just bought the RCA/12V Receptacle kit, but it arrived without installation instructions. Can anyone tell me the easiest way to hook up the 12V receptacle so power is switched through the ignition? I'm hoping there are connections on the back of the radio since all the devices will be close to each other (in the glove box). And with the walk through windshield, it wouldn't appear easy to reach the dash pod. Thanks.

Use the same black and red power wires that the Clarion deck is hooked to.

I would use the same black and red power wires from the head unit. Does the 12v plug come with a fuse? If it does not, you may want to install a fuse on it. At any rate, I would connect the red wire for the plug between the power source and the fuse for the head unit. If you connect it after the head units fuse (between the fuse and the head unit), the fuse from the head unit will carry the load of the radio and whatever you connect to the plug. Depending on what you connect to the plug, this may not be a big deal but if you connect an accessory that draws a heavy load, you can blow the head unit's fuse before you blow the one on the plug.

I would rather have the radio working and lose the plug as opposed to lose both.
