08 SANTE 210 Wetsounds 420SQ Mounting Location Ideas

So my 420 on all my past boats was mounted flush under the dash. Obviously not a clean looking looking install on my new to me 210. Trying to figure out some ideas and options. Fire away

Can you attach a few pics of the helm area including in the side panel (right of driver)? Visualizing exactly what you have may help.

Mine is mounted in the location where your toggle switch is on the side panel. Honestly I am going to move it to underdash to the right of the steering wheel as it is a PITA to work/ access after 2 seasons of trying to get use to it.

Here's mine...and this is probably where Paxdad has his. Looks great and it's out of the way, but it's a pain if you need to work on it.

I'm selling my boat, so I won't do anything with it. But if I were keeping it, I think I'd leave the 420 where it is and modify how it's mounted so I could pull it out of its location without removing the panel into which it is mounted. That way I could easily access wires, fuse, etc., and still keep the same location (which is functional and looks good).

What are some of the cons you are moving it for?

I run my volume and use the wired remotes for all my needs. So I rarely adjust the 420. Most of the fingertip adjustment iwould be for my sub .

I have the gen2 ws420 and the cons of where I have it mounted make it a pita to turn the volume up and down between the tower and boat. I use an iPad for my head unit and typically adjust through it as I have a nice cup holder mount for it. The pita aspect is when I have someone behind the boat riding and not when sitting around. I plan to get the new bt420 and mount under dash so I can just keep my fingers on the main volume knob and turn it down when they fall etc. or if using bt that person can turn down the device they are using. This might not seem to be a big con to anyone else but it is another distraction to me. No matter what as it is mounted now I have to remove the side panel to work on it.

Pax? Why are u bothering using the 420 volume? Just get a Bluetooth and hook that to input on stereo then use the stereo volume. Plus going this way u can use the boost auto volume control and never have to worry about volume adjust when riders fall. Much easier. Otherwise they do make simple volume knobs u could instal if u must keep it the way u have it.

                      Pax,

I am with ya 100%. But rather than move the entire 420 I would take the advice of Ron and go through your head unit for simplicity. This is the main reason I will never go straight to the 420 as a source. The unit is cumbersome to adjust on the fly that frequently. I simply ran an aux cord over to my drivers helm from my head unit to my iPhone and use the volume function through my wired remotes. It's an easy flick of one mute button on my factory remote every time a rider falls. All my volume adjustments come through the factory remote. I plan on keeping that segment the same when I install the 420. If I wanted full integration with the remote (ie change tracks , playlists. Etc) I would opt for a new head unit with built in bluetooth which would give me even more control through the factory remote, but for now just having the volume use is sufficient since I have an iPhone mount right at my fingertip to access that with my throttle hand. It's annoying that the factory remote is not on the throttle hand side of the dash. Too much hand swapping off the wheel. Ahhhh the little things that make you scratch your head all day long

                        Swatguy,
Which head unit do you have? Cmd5 or 6. I will give this a try and see how it sounds vs going through the WS420 which is the way I have it now using my iPhone/ iPad.

Yeah using the Bluetooth controller(see pic) plugged into the headunit and then the Boost box for auto volume control is really in my mind the only way to go! So simple.

The optimal SQ would be to get an aux adapter with 2 RCA's and the charging pin on the other end for the iPod/iPad. However running an aux adapter with 2 RCA's on one end and headphone jack on the other also works but leaves you needed an extra charging cord.

I have exactly that set up and made it from an iSimple cord. However I have removed it and the stock RCA/ charger receptacle and replaced with a USB port. I don't use it any longer though. Will post a photo of it soon.
