I got this bluetooth unit made by roswell. http://www.roswellwakeair.com/cybox-bluetooth-interface
I held out a long time because plugging into our phones directly sounds so good. So I got this item few days ago and since my boat is gone to storage I just wired it easily to a cig lighter plug. So am using it this winter in my car. The glove box has a cig lighter plug and the 3.5.

It works awesome. Volume is very strong out of it. I use with samsung galaxy s5 so - not a techie - I think it is using most up to date codecs. I highly recommend. I think there will be 0 quality decrease. In my particular phone I get better volume thru the bluetooth then the 3.5 jack. Maybe because they don't want to blow out anyones ears.

I went back to using the aux input on the head unit yesterday and using the wired remote on the dash. Problem solved as you recommend. It actually sounds better to me then running through the Ws420. I am going to leave it as is but still have to pull it out to fix a mic issue. Pita to remove the panel but will look at another way to mount in the same location.

I realize this is old, but I'm thinking about installing a 420 SQ in the same location on the combing panel near the toggle. But before I commit, what does it take to get the panel off? Is it held on by those Christmas tree clips and just pry them off? What kind of mounting bracket did you guys use (not sure what it comes with since it hasn't arrived yet)? How did you guys run your RCA's back over to under the passenger seat? Thanks in advance.

Crimedog--you remove the shift/throttle level (small allen screw on the bottom), then pop off the vinyl (plastic christmas trees...be careful not to pry between the fiberglass and the vinyl panel with anything hard like a screw driver), then the panel that holds the gauges is held on with screws.

To mount the 420, I took a piece of plywood and epoxied it to the back of the panel where it's mounted in the photo I posted previously. I then mounted the 420 to that plywood panel. Then I put everything back together.

It's a great location unless you need to work on the 420 (i.e. adjust gains, replace fuse, mess with a loose RCA, troubleshoot any problem with the stereo, etc.). It's just too time consuming to pull the unit. If I were doing it over, I'd figure out a way to mount it so I could easily pull it out the front of that panel. Wetsounds now makes a flush mount that might work in that area, but probably not in that exact location. That's what I used in my new boat and I like it more simply because I can take out the screws holding the mount in place and pull the entire unit to access the back panel.

Just like xrichard indicated it is very time consuming to remove it once it is in. When I take mine back out to work on the mic connection I am going to remount to access easier.
