Does anyone know if the standard 2004 210-Team Kicker Subwoofer is a Free-Air Sub? It is in a small white enclosure and I don't know if the sub can be replaced with a different free-air sub, or if the enclosue is specific to the sub. I was thinking of going with the 10" JL Free-Air when I redo my system...

i dont think it is free air..
btw, have you heard a free air sub ??? it is really hard to get decent sound quality and slam from them (have heard a idmax12 sound good in one application it takes a very unique eclosure)..
would suggest the image dynamic idq series... these are incredible subs that dont require alot of power, can be used in small enclosures, slam, and high sound quality. they are also reasonabley priced..
as a whole, sub design changed the last five years....new designs use large motors and magnents, very stiff surrounds, require high power class d or t amps and "pressurize" the listening space and respond well to being overdriven.. ie a lot of deep bass(pressurization 20hz to 40hz) but lower quality bass in the upper bass (music in the 35hz-90hz)

The only reason I was going to go with a free-air was becauise I thought that is what was in there now. If not, then I would love to put a better sub in with a small enclosure. I just can't afford to lose too much space in that compartment. I will look into your suggestion, if anyone else has a suggestion please let me know... I am ready to move on this now and when I decide to start, I don't want to have the boat out the the water any longer then I have to. Thanks!2004 SAN 210-Team
