    Another amp or Not?

I am in the process of upgrading the stereo system in my Pro Air. I am swapping out all the stock interior speakers with the Polk Momo's and going to run them with the Clarion 4ch. I am going to be adding 4 tower speakers all in separate cans (also polk momo's) should I use another amp to run the tower speakers? Another 4ch or a 2ch?

I like wiring tower speakers in parallel so there are only 4 wires to get through the tower tubes, so I would vote for one very strong 2 channel amp that would support the 2 ohm load.

You can run all 8 speakers off your existing 4ch. amp, if it will support a 2 ohm load and you wire two speakers in parallel to each channel.

I bought the Clarion APX280 for the tower speakers. I think this is the amp CC gives with the tower speaker upgrade which is 4 polk momo's. I am going to run them parallel the amp says it is 160 continuous, 80w x 2 into 4 Ohm and 125 x 2 @ 2ohm. I want to use a switch to turn off the amp so when we are just lounging around the boat i can turn off the tower speakers and just run the interior speakers. Can I wire this to the empty accessory switch on the dash or should i use a different after market switch?

You can use the dash switch but you want to use the deck's amp turn-on lead as the power souce for the switch and just use the switch to interrupt the amp's on signal when you want it off. This way you will not get annoying pops when you turn the deck on/off nor forget to turn the amp off.

I have my tower speaker amp wired to the accessory switch so I can turn the towers speakers on/off independent of the radio.
