Anyone installed the iPod module on the CMD4?

I upgraded to the CMD4 from the XMD3 because of the additional set of RCA outs. While I was at it I picked up the iPOD module from Clarion that works over CeNET. I had to get a CeNet Y-Cable so that I could use both the iPOD module and my CD-Changer. It all hooks up and works okay, except the CMD4 seems to have less features then the XMD3. The iPOD module is supposed to emulate a 6-Disc changer and pickup the playlists on your iPOD. Mine only shows DISC-1 and does not show any playlists, names of songs, tracks, etc... The CMD4 does not appear to support CD-TEXT. What is the deal? Am I missing something?

My buddy has the same setup as you. I'm not very impressed with the ipod interface personally. You have to make playlists and name them Clarion1, Clarion2, etc... for them to work. You can see some text but not much. You might be better off with the AUX inputs... that is what we use in his boat. The one thing cool about the interface is you can skip songs using the remote... especially helpfull if you use the transom remote a lot.

I seen a 06' 211 today and noticed it had the CMD4 in it. I was hoping the iPod interface would work well with it but apparently not. I'll just stick with the aux input.

Bought it, tried it , returned it... the Clarion ipod mudule is garbage. As mentioned before, the deck thinks your ipod is a changer and nothing more. The only control you have is to forward or reverse through your playlist. Charging the ipod and the ability to control from the remote are the only good features of the unit. The instructions say it supports text, but mine never did. The worst part is, when attached, the normal functions of the ipod are disabled. You can't even read what song is playing, it just displays "Clarion". Not worth the $100.

Here's my solution... Install a 12v receptical in the glove box. Tap into the power from the 12v lead supplying the deck. Due the same for the ground. Use the charger shown in the picture, it's made by Belkin (F8V7058-APL). The cool thing about this charger is, it has an audio jack down at the base of the plug. You can plug a mini jack from the AUX inputs of your deck right into the plug. Now you have the ability to use all of the functions of your ipod and keep the thing charged. The cable on the charger is not real long, but the driver can still reach it.

It took me about 45 min to install. The chargers are dirt cheap on ebay and you can get a 12v recepticale from any boat store (west marine). Total cost for the project was about $40.00.
