1994 SNOB w/stock Clarion 8430R, power fade: wire gauge?

I've got a 94 SNOB with the stock Clarion stereo and an Accuski. I've noticed the Accuski occasionally coming up with LOW VOLTAGE alerts and the stereo has terrible bass response.

I am suspicious that the gauge of positive and ground wire to the instrument cluster is too small. Matter of fact, I wonder if the battery cable in general are of too small a gauge?

I've got a Marine Optima battery in there (750CCA), fully charged so I don't think its the battery.

Any suggestions on power cables in general and specifically those to the instrument cluster?

Has anyone re-wired to the instrument cluster with heavier wiring?

Check your connections in the dash pod, look for any loose wires or connectors or corrosion possibly a bad connection some where. Normally what CC did was have a 10 gauge wire run to the dash for both power and ground but as soon as it got in the dash they would splice it to 14 gauge wire and daisy chain it to the other gauges and switches.

I ran seperate power straight from the battery. Works well. The power cable will come up through the floor right far corner under the dash area. I can try and see where it is exactly on mine, but take me a little bit. My problem with mine is I think the alternator is not big enough now. That odd battery in the compartment seems to hamper how big a battery you can use. Its like a low profile battery.
