NVS Addictions on an 05 SANTE

I'm posting this up as I've been asked a lot for photos and such of the Addictions mounted on the boat. Typically is "How big?" They are big! I've cracked my head a couple of times, and now I leave the bimini up. The trade off? Loud and clear! They really are amazing. On my 02 Team, I had the Boss 530's with a set os B50's? as well. These really are above that. On the swimdeck, the quality suffers a little, but they really get clearer the further back you go. I had thought about running a set of 61/2's as well on the tower, for clairity while ideling, (Turn up the 6-1/2's - Addictions turned down) but they just aren't needed. I was worried about the size too, but i think it's worth it. Duane is also a heck of a guy to work with and is more than happy to answer any of your questions.

The details: I'm using an Orion 8004 amp. Duane had said that I could go to 400 watts per speaker. I went with a 4 channel amp, so I wouldn't lose left and right and I have each speaker bridged to get the 400.

Before the amp, I took Grant's suggestion of using a PPI EQ. This allows me to tune the speakers and gives me seperate volume control from the rest of the speakers in the boat. I really like this! Hit the source button on the EQ and just the tower speakers are off. Sweet!

Running the speaker wire: I ran 12awg, which is really thick! Probably over kill, but hey you do it once - I ran the wire through the bottom back leg of the tower and then back out and in to get around the front hinge. From there I drilled two holes in the top of the tower as access holes, and then drilled into the front and back bars. Then a hole next to the speakers. 3/8 gromments were used and 3/4" plastic caps, snapped in and siliconed up top.

One other thing - tuning really needs to be done OUTSIDE of your sub-division. The cops are called pretty quickly.

Hope this helps! Any questions let me know -
    Ken

Nice Job! I like the wire connection on the NVS speaker.

I just ordered some carbon fiber wire loom for my upcoming install. The pics are helpful.

        *** EDIT ***
Running the speaker wire: I ran 12awg, which is really thick! From there I drilled two holes in the top of the tower as access holes, and then drilled into the front and back bars. This gives you access to the rear tower bar. Then a hole next to the speakers. 3/8 gromments were used and 3/4" plastic caps, snapped in and siliconed up top.

          Gotwake-
Excellent job, I remember hearing the old boat at Extreme's and was blown away, I can't IMAGINE what that thing sounds like. BTW, can you bring down the tower yourself, or do you need to hire a few muscleheads from the gym

            Nice setup gotwake

Where I can order some of the wire loom like gotwake has for his tower speakers? I would like to clean up my install and just need the wire loom, no connections necessary.

            Thanks.

Jeff - Thanks! It's loud! LOL The tower is heavy and I've done it myself. Do like the insurance policy of someone else there though.

                    gotwake,

I am running the same clamps and it looks like we have the same issue? Mine tend to move a bit. Are yours oversized or are they 1 7/8"? I have been thinking about getting some 2" clamps and putting a few wraps of innertube under them?

Mike- I got the 2" clamps and used inner-tube. The installation photos were the first time I put them up. Later I cut the tube (Only got one wrap) and used a little 3M adhesive to hold it in place while I tightened the clamps down. Worked pretty well. Gonna switch amps this spring, came across another PPI 4125. What amp are you running?

The PPI 4125 has been waiting to go in when my back is well enough to work upside down curled up under the bow. Last summer it was a HiFonics ZX6400 @ 320watts per side, the PPI's 500w should do well, I know these amps tend to be under rated.

Understand that! I've been anxious to start on my projects, just haven't found the time. The Orion Amp that I used (8004) does really well at 400w, but looking at the ratings, I think the PPI will do better. Still would like to switch out the Orion 2500 for the subs, cause I know the W7's will handle it, just haven't come across a better solution, without adding another amp (which I really don't want to do). Any input gang?

Also going with LED's and Grant's heated seats as well. Dang- better get started! LOL.
