Pls forgive if this is the wrong forum for this question........Its time to drop some new speakers in the '04 211. The problem i have run into is the m.b. quarts are 6.5" and the kickers are smaller. The Quarts do sound sooo much better, but now i need to know a good method for enlarging the fiberglass hole. I know i could take it to a shop, but as a winter project, i think i would like to try. Thanks for any help. Dee

RE: Speaker Holes
The easiest way I found to increase hole size in the fiberglass is with a Rotozip. I tape the area around the hole(the diameter of the new hole I am going to cut) and use the tape as a guide. Make sure you use two hands, the thing has a tendancy to want to walk sometimes. If you are carefull and take your time it is no problem.
Maybe some others have some different ways.

I tried several different saws when I cutting the holes for the bow speakers in my 211. I ended up using my Ryobi battery powered sawzall with a small fine metal blade. I am sure any sawzall would work. CC's fiberglass is quite strong I killed a couple dremmel blades before I broke out the big guns. I also had a single tooth adjustable hole saw. It was amazing to watch the hard fiberglass melt the sharp tip right off the hardened tool steel cutter.
That hole above that Grant shows is done by somebody that has cut lots of holes before, it's not that easy to get them that clean and round. You may want to practice on a piece of melamine before you start hacking on your boat. It takes a little finesse.
