    New NVS Tyrant Series

Has anyone heard about them yet? I just checked, and Duane has a new website at www.nvs1.net. The series sounds cool, and with their price I expect them to be something really outstanding, but no pics yet...

We're about to upgrade to a pair of Addictions, but now I guess we should wait a bit just to see what this is...

Just curious, as I've not decided what Tower speakers and sub to go with myself yet - but -

I have a family friend who is adamant that the JL-Audio Marine series speakers are the way to go and frankly far surpass many of the prepackaged sets you can buy. This requires getting a custom tower can, but supposedly is well worth it.

Here's what I've been looking at:
        - (1) e2150m 2 channel amp for sub
        - (1) e6450m 6 channel amp for tower and cockpit speakers
        - (1) M10IB5-4 10" sub
        - (2) M770-TCX tower
        - (2) customer built tower speak cans to house speakers
        - (1) remote control for my dash with digital readout
        - volume knob to separately control the tower speakers vs. the cockpit.

Thoughts / Comments as it relates to the speakers you list above?

There really is no comparison to NVS for tower speakers. The JLs will be good for the interior of the boat, but if you want the most ridicuously loud tower speakers made, NVS without a doubt.
Ummm, I\'ll take the REAL 210 please. Thanks.

I think sperbet is right, JL makes great stuff, but they're still the same style made for your car, small, enclosed, areas... The horn styles, used in concerts for example, is really the only way you can project clear loud music to the rider... The only companies that I've seen that use the horn style was NVert, and they're as good as gone, Skylon in their Deafcon V's, which I hear nothing special about, and then there's NVS, which everyone is slowly upgrading to. They're expensive, but worth it...

EDIT: Alright, just checked and here they are. They look awesome, just like 2 Addictions pushed together. The Entity's dont really look that appealing to me, just b/c they're so huge, and the horn in the middle doesn't look too stylish, but these look pretty nice, I could easily see a pair looking good on FCTs...

The NVS are crazy, and truely designed for the tower. The JL 7" that MC uses are decent but not even close to how far the NVS throws. I have the JL 6.5's in my boat and love them. But for the tower, godda love the NVS.

ABU - are those quick-disconnect now?

Saw/Touched/Heard them yesterday. Probably Duane's best solution to date. Don't try to do a sound comparison unless you are out in an open space. These speakers are designed to throw the sound out the the rider without having a reflected wave to reinforce certain wavelengths. Unlike most car speaker based solutions they will sound better on the water. Some have experienced the short lived impressions of how well a system sounds in a garage, only to be disappointed once we were out on the water.

                    Heard them yesterday as well,

They have a rack with all 4 speakers and they can switch between the Adiction and the Tyrant and 808 and 1010,

from what I heard yesterday I like the 808's the best. IMO they didnt sound as sharp as all the other NVS speaker's

Duane got back to me and they're not. Hoped so, but guess we'll have to see what he comes up with next. Thanks for the info guys -

Gotta agree with Mike, inside I've heard some tower systems that I thought were the great, only to get them outside and realize that they weren't all that. Reverse is true for the Addictions. Inside - so-so, outside, pretty tough to beat.

gotwake - I'm not sure I followed what you were saying here.

Curious, which model are you guys suggesting and ballpark how much do they run? If I'm going with the JL Audio for cockpit and sub, do I need a special amp for these NVS or JL is fine?

The new speakers are not quick disconnect.
I have the Addictions, and would really like to come up with a quick disconnect mount, and would have looked into upgrading, but gonna keep what I have.

I'm running the Orion 8004 to the Addictions.
I have to 2 - PPI 4125's running the JL's in the boat.
An Orion 2500D powers the subs.

                            Grant,

You said you dont think they sound as good as the other NVS products... how so???

I am on a budget and thinking about 1 808 or 1 tyrant... you say the 808 would be the best???

                            Thanks

First let me say everyones ear is diffrent.

"For my Ear" I liked the 808's the best . IMO they had a flater smother mid sound than the rest.
