What size are the speakers for this year? When I measured at lease the outside of the opening, thought I got 5". That leads me to think they are 5.5" but not sure. Anyone know?

I just started a post below yours "2002 SANTE stock kicker speaker" I took a couple of mine out because a they were blown. Did some research on them and I guess they considered them 6.5" kicker impulse 600m speakers (this is a team edition which I think had an upgraded sound system) but finding a replacement 6.5 with the same dimensions is hard to do. These kicker 600m measure more like a 5.25" marine speaker when you take the physical dimensions mounting depth, diameter, ect. Most 6.5 marine speakers are deeper and too big in diameter to fit through the bow cutouts to do a rear loaded mount like the stock speakers. if you don't care about rear loading and keeping your cloth speaker covers then you have many options.

To expound off my original question regarding speaker size for my 2002 Sport, does anyone have any suggestions of speakers that would work to replace my stocks that come with a cool speaker grille? Do you know if the grill gets screwed in to the vinyl? Also, does anyone know how to remove the stock cloth speaker cover? I know its like 20 questions but really looking to make as many improvements this winter as possible before spring hits. Any help is welcomed.
Looking at replacing my stock head unit with a Clarion M502 and use the Clarion MW1 wired remote.
Do you see the Clarion CMG1622R speakers being acceptable? Does anyone have recommendations for an amp that would push them?

If you front load a 6.5" speaker then yes you will most likely be screwing through the vinyl and into the white board that the vinyl is stapled too. Those Clarion speakers your looking at will work as long as you front load and the cutout diameter is less than 5" which it should be but the clarion website has the cutout diameter mislabeled perhaps because they show 1146 mm which is impossible for a 6.5" speaker. Just confirm that cutout diameter is less than 5". You don't need to take out the cloth speaker covers just cutout the fabric in them. If your stock speakers are still in place you may need to remove the combing pads and bow backrest. Once you remove those pieces you will see how the speaker covers are screwed on from the back. As for amp I'm assuming you are replacing all six speakers? If so just get an amp that has 6 channels. If you go with the Clarion speakers you could buy the Clarion 6 ch amp too and that would power them fine.
