    Wet sounds tower speakers

    Should I get

    1. A pair of rev 410's
    2. Two pair of rev 8's
    3. One pair rev 8's and one pair rev 10's
    4. Two pair of rev 10's
What wet sounds amp should I get for the tower speakers. Lastly. I loved my old 485's. How do the 410's compare?

    Thanks All.

Pair of rev-410 on an SD-4 would be my first choice
Rev 3-some on an SD-6 would be my 2nd
2 pair Rev-10 on 2 SD-6 amps and use the remaining 4 chnls for the in-boats if those are getting upgraded, or and SD-2 if the in-boats are remaining as is.

Thanks MLA. Only tower speakers are getting upgraded. Yeah, I'm thinking 410's mainly because I was so happy with 485's. Advantage of rev 8 and 10's is I can rotate them, but not sure how often I would do.

From an accuracy and musical standpoint a pair of Rev410s would be best. A bridged SD4 would obtain every bit of performance.
I would not run a combo of Rev10s and Rev8s. The total amplitude would not be much more than a single pair of Rev10s. The Rev10 runs a couple of dB more output and that is enough to dominate.
I wouldn't hesitate to run two pair of Rev8s if that is the maximum width that my tower would handle. I like their sound. But the other three options have significantly more radiating surface area (+ output) and more pod displacement (+ depth of midbass extension).
You might get a bit more peak output from two pair of Rev10s versus one pair of Rev410s given that the Rev10 has some tweeter accentuation. But I think the transition from the midbass driver to the horn tweeter is a bit smoother with the Rev410. The 410 continuous midbass driver has about 5% more surface area than the 10 which also serves to seal off the voice coil gap. You'll notice that the Rev410 enclosure is tighter and may have punchier midbass.

Thanks David. Very helpful. I think 410's is the way I will go.

I've run a pair of 410s for 2 seasons now on a SYN4 and love them. Snagged an SD4 over Black Friday so they will have more power this season. I love the way they sound and prefer the look of their pods to a single or dual pair of Rev10s. You can't go wrong with them!

I would suggest the 410's! I have a pair on my previous two boats, my last Malibu I used the new sd amps and was not happy at all. I ended up blowing an amp and a speaker on that set up. The amps didn't seam to perform like JL that I used to power the systems with. (This is my opinion)

Good to know on the Amps. I had JL's in my old boat running 485's. Loved 'em.

                  @ Aoblak,

Sorry to hear about your tower speaker and amp issue, sometimes random things just happen, even with the best of products.

                  @ KatyTX,

Please dont let this deter you from considering the SD amps. I have used dozens since their release. Zero issues and no unhappy results

A good friend of mine, Odin with Earmark Marine, sells both JL Audio and Wetsounds audio products. Odin keeps service logs on all products. By the numbers, an amplifier failure from either brand is nearly non-existent.

The 410's don't fit!!! Looks like two pair of rev10's (if those even fit) or two pair of rev8's. Boo hoo.!

What doesn't fit about them? If you had 485s on the same boat a 410 should fit I would think. They aren't that much larger.

I had the 485's on my 2009 230. Installer, who probably does more Wetsounds installs than anybody (so I've been told) says there is a problem with the clamps hitting flat spots.

Not the end of the world for me if I go with 4 rev8's, which is what I am going to do.

Funny……. but that doesn't mean he has a lot of experience with Nautiques,

                              Heres another pic, they fit.
