JL M880-ETXv2
Does anyone know when these are coming out? Has anyone heard them? I've got JL mx650's in the boat and had planned to get a pair of Rev8's in the Spring. I don't particularly care about having the entire lake hear my music and would probably prefer the coaxial vs HLCD. I was planning on the Rev8 vs M770 tower option, but the M880 seems like a better option for my needs. The JL website says M880-ETXv2 coming soon.

JL Audio says shipping in February. To me that always means March.
The tonal balance of JL Audio marine speakers run very consistent. So the M880 will sound much like the M770 which sounds much like the MX650. As the driver gets larger JL Audio goes from a 0.75" soft dome to a 1.0" soft dome to a 1.2" soft dome. The midbass driver is never too large for the tweeter and the integration is always smooth and seamless through the midrange. However, with each step up in surface area you get a speaker that has more command in the midbass and has greater output capacity. The 8-inch 880 is going to be strong! Strong in midbass, strong in output, and strong in sound quality. But since it is a conventional coaxial it will never project at wake range quite like an HLCD of the same size.
