Venting the sub / storage compartment G23

I just got done installing the Roswell box and sub in my G23. I was on the fence on whether or not to put the Roswell sub or go with a well known brand sub in the Roswell box. I am very impressed with the Roswell sub - it is much better than I expected. This setup is not cheap, but the quality of the box is excellent and keeps that factory look. I ordered from nautiqueparts.com. They were excellent to work with.

Sorry for the basic question, not exactly an audiophile but will venting the observer compartment with the stock sub make an improvement, or is it better to install a new sub in a box?

I don't have much experience with the oem sub setups but if the sub sounds better with the seat open then venting would help.

Trip, they are MHD900/5 for sub and 4 interior and MHD750/1 running one pair of rev10s

I like the idea of the vent located lower and against the sole and within the confines of the cockpit, rather than higher and in the walk-thru even though the surface area of the walk-thru vent may be larger.

Since we are talking about upgrading the sub output on a G23 - other than the venting and the Roswell box combo, what other options have you all done to improve the sub sound/volume in the boat? The Roswell box looks great, however I don't like the idea of giving up the extra storage under the observers seat. I have not yet installed our vent, maybe it will be enough, maybe not. Ideally I would like to optimize the factory sub location. Suggestions?

You could look into installing a sub on the driver side. I have one on both sides.

Going to revive this thread because I'm really interested in that Roswell vent. Does anyone know if they make one in white? Black won't look great on my white gel coat.

I installed a JL M12IB6 in the factory location. I will probably redo the seadeck to match the contour better at some point.


Then I designed(close copy of one i saw) the port grill and cut it.

Cut a hole in the boat and glued it in.


It is white plastic with a slightly polished Stainless inlay. At some point i will install the LED's to match the rest of the boat.I also have a G23 logo to cut and install on the grill

I am looking to put 2 vents in my new G vs 1 has anyone done this wondering how much better it would sound. I made 13x9 vents I will do 1 where I put the 1 i posted in this thread but adding another either on the out wall under the flip up seat or in between the latches of the flip up seat.. Any input is appreciated

They do not. But another user on this site painted some white and they look pretty good.
