    LED Speaker Wiring

Need your thoughts on this. Putting new LED speakers in my 2001 SAN. My boat does not have the heater or shower since it was a salt water boat and cooled with anitfreeze. Can I wire the LED to one of those on the keypad to use as my switch instead of adding a switch somewhere. Looking for your input. Thanks

Yes. Many of the boats use switches that aren't used such as heater.

Or design a switch panel to mount somewhere near the dash. I did that and had some custom switches made. I was real happy with how that turned out.

On my '05 I used the shower. Shower on = LED's on; shower of = LED's off. Didn't have a shower, but did have a heater, so it was the only way I could keep boat looking stock. Plus if you look up the wiring diagrams you can see what color and where the wires are... Chased mine down in the engine compartment- super easy didn't have to take anything except the speaker grills apart

I know this is an older thread, but does anyone have pics of their connections for wiring their LED speakers? I am waiting on my Kicker KM654's to get here so I can install on my '04 Super Sport. I have no shower or heater and would like to use one of those switches. I'm a novice with this so if you have any additional advice or detailed info, it would be GREATLY appreciated! What type of wire will I need, how to fish it through the bow to reach the port speakers? These are the types of questions I have.

          Thanks.

Are you going to just wire one color or are you wanting the RGB effect? RGB requires a controller. With the controller, no switch is needed, but one can be used to turn the controller on and off. If just using single color, black goes to the switch's B+ (battery positive) output (as verified by a volt meter) and what ever color you, that colored wire goes to ground.

I would like to use all of the colors, but if that's too much for me to bite off myself, I can go with just 1 color.

Kicker RGB controller http://kicker.com/41KMLC remote has an ON/OFF button, but I always like to wire the B+ to the boat side of the main battery switch anyway.
