Go JL 12W3! I installed it in a 'cheep sealed box stuffed in the compartment' and it sounds pretty great. I think I saw $700 plus shipping, but who's counting?

Anything will sound better than the stock sub. Just wait until you put some REAL power to it.

Either amp would work perfectly for your interior speaker setup. The amp rack area is somewhat limited in space. I was able to get 3 amps on a new board on the wall back there, but they are pretty tight. You may need to think geometry and size of the amp. I used an Arc 300.4 to the in boat speakers, which gives me 175 Watts X 4 channels at 2 Ohms. It also has a nice small footprint. IIRC the MHD is about the same 11.25 X 8". The wetsounds is 13 X 8.5" The extra 2 inches may literally be the difference between making it fit depending on your creativity and where the wire inputs and such are. I made a cardboard cutout of my amps and amp board and put it in there to be sure it could fit.

I have not heard them, so I'm just making this up...but I don't know if putting more power to the stock tower speakers is going to get that much more out of them. If they are inadequate now, they probably will be so with more power too. I am a wetsounds tower speaker fanboy, because I have yet to hear anything better. I have heard many, but not the Nauti stock tower speakers. Given the size of the cone, it is going to be very difficult to get much midbass extension from them. I am sure the horns can be heard a mile away, but that's only half the music.

FWIW, $600 as a deterrent makes sense--it's a lot for a sub box. Just because you're putting it in an expensive G doesn't really have anything to do with it. The same logic: "Well, I bought a G so spending $600 on a new kitchen knife shouldn't matter." It all has to do with the value perceived v. alternatives and nothing to do with the cost of the boat. FWIW, I'm not knocking the Roswell box...I think the Roswell box adds a lot of value and is worth $600 if that's the look/style/location you want. But there are cheaper alternatives that are better for some people (e.g. sealed enclosure mounted out of the way behind the trashcan). It's not really "16yo first ride" v. Roswell.

After a lot of reading I picked up the Wetsounds SD6 for the interior speakers and a JL MHD 600/4 for the tower...

I like the idea of the Rev series on the tower as I have 2 Rev 8's on my 226 that sound ridiculously loud and clear but I love the aesthetic look of the two pair of stock Roswell horns on the tower and want to see what they will do with some power to them... I'm planning on installing it all on Saturday and will post results and pics when I'm done...

Any tricks to running additional 4 gauge power and grounds from the stock perko switch? Any advice or tricks are REALLY appreciated!

Has anyone swapped out the Polk head unit and switched to the Clarion? Is it possible to change the computer yourself to recognize the Clarion? Is that even needed?

If you are not happy with the sound of the horns after the power boost, Wetsounds makes a 6x9 cone that you can retrofit into the Roswell cans. My buddy just had some put in.

I ran mine straight to the battery, but that is another subject. For most owners, running the cable to the perko switch on the other side of the boat is the best option. I think the standard answer is to run it around the bow and then into the compartment behind the perko switch and attach it to the common post there. I wanted my RCA's to be shorter than 20 feet, so I removed the stock subwoofer, and ran it straight across behind the front ballast bag. I could not get them to easily pass through the same hole the power wires come through, so I drilled a second 1 inch hole straight down into the ballast compartment and used a fish tape to get them across.

Getting the ground to the batteries is going to be easiest by running it in the amp compartment and straight back, then cutting across to the batteries together with the gas fill line. Since I seem to not like to do things the easiest way, and I wanted to hide the wires better, I passed it through the front ballast compartment and then on top of the gas tank to the batteries. There is a wall between the gas tank and the ballast compartment. You can reach through the access hatch beneath the garbage can to drill a hole in that wall, or if your arms are ridiculously long, you can remove the subwoofer, reach around the amp wall and then put the drill back into the wall that divides those 2 compartments. That is what I decided to do, since I did not have a drill that fits through the tiny access hatch under the garbage can, but I don't think most ordinary people can do that.

I'm not a fan of running distribution to the amps off the Perko switch because, among other things, the cable to the switch is only 2ga. I ran mine direct from the battery: 1/0 cable => 300a fuse => switch (separate from the stock switch) => fused distribution block => 4ga cable to amps.

I also put a Blue Sea ACR in under the dash. The install was easy and it automatically keeps your starting battery separate from your stereo battery (...or battery bank).

Another tip is to run all power and ground back to the same location to minimize the possibility of noise...so everything can run off the power distribution block by the amp rack (and you can do the same for ground distribution).

In my opinion, the Rev10s sound noticeable better than the Rev8s...and are the best thing going.

All great advice! I'm going to take it and run new home runs to the batteries of 0 gauge but need to get into the compartment where the perko switch is to disconnect the old runs... How the heck do you get in there... The outer 4 screws have nuts behind them in the perko compatment and the pane under the drivers area is screwed in from the top...

The panel under the helm pulls straight down. It is held on by automotive style plastic Christmas trees

Matt! Thanks for the great words about Action Watersports. I'm a partner with them on our new Colorado store! We have been doing a lot of custom installs on G's this year and I can give you a few great tips...

Building a rectangle sub enclosure in front of the garbage can to save money, and is hardly noticeable, but agree your Roswell box is a definitely an upgrade from that!

I like both SD and MHD amplifiers, we carry both in stock and use them depending on customers preference. Some people know JL, some know WetSounds better

As for swapping out the Polk unit for a Clarion, there is no advantage. In all honesty, neither is a true high end receiver, but both work great. If you were to switch from Polk to Clarion, you'd actually be losing features like Bluetooth and Zone Control. Transom remotes are different too, you can go from a polk to a Clarion, because the mounting hole on the clarion is larger than the polk, but not vice versa...
