I need to buy either 2 or 1/0 awg wire to supply power to 3 amps. I need about 20ft of wire and it gets to be fairly expensive. Where is the best place to buy this type of wire?
TIA,
Shade
I just went to Home Depot and bought it by the foot off the spool, soldered terminals on and plastic dipped the ends....outside of getting the exact length I wanted I think it would have been just as well to go to a stereo shop.
www.Genuinedealz.com. They have it all, and it is tinned (which is what you want). They can also do the terminal ends you want for you (if you have all the measurements).

I didn't realize there were so many types of wire with such a wide price range. I'm not really sure what to get. I hear CCA wire is not as good as OFC wire and Chexi says I want tinned wire. I may be more confused now. Haha. Any suggestions?
Technically you should use tinned wire to keep it ABYC certified, but most just use OFC cable for stereo installs. I do not recommend wire from a hardware store like mentioned above. Yes it would work, but won't be nearly as flexible as car audio cable.
Like everything else in this world... You get what you pay for! Do it right the first time or you will end up spending more money later to fix it.
I went with JL Audio XD-BPW2 (also available in XD-BPW1/0). You can get it by the foot at any shop that carries JLA products. I looked around too but didn't want to buy something off the Interweb I couldn't put my hands on pre-purchase. Too much random product out there and quality is all over the place. I went with something I was comfortable with from a known quality brand.
I am sure others will take issue, but I didn't want to redo the wiring later and didn't want issues down the road (or river).
pay attention to the wires sleeve; many car cables are not rated for wet environments. You can pay a lot for something that would look fancy but not last or be safe for a boat.
Also, not sure who manufactures their wire, but it looks like http://www.bestboatwire.com/ sells marine grade wire made to the same specs as the others.

This wire is very flexible and it is nice to have someone put the battery terminal on for you with the right tools. Hammering a battery terminal on there is not the 'right tool'.
