    Grounding wire change?

My brand new 230 has a stereo that sounds awful: engine whine, hiss, etc.

Does anyone have the details on the service bulletin that relocates the engine ground and stereo ground? Would be greatly appreciated!

I cannot comment on the service bulletin, but the best idea is to always ground all audio stuff to the precise same location if possible.

Thanks to Tripp as he sent me the bulletin as well. One thing to check lads is the AUX wire coming from the drivers side. I chased down this horrible buzz and once I removed that RCA from the HU, it went away. I ran a shorter, high quality RCA directly across over the front ballast tank instead of all the way around the front of the boat.

You will find with the re-routing of the ground wire that there are wire ties along the proper route. You may have to epoxy on one or two but for the most part, they are there. Boggles my mind why Nautique would put them there but not route the ground in its proper spot.

So are you saying that the grounding issue causes noise to come through the AUX wire? Or are you saying that you had a different problem altogether? If rerouting the AUX cable and replacing it with a higher quality cable caused the noise to go away, then I would not have bothered with the ground cable relocation. It sounds like you did both.

So will Nautique automatically fix this? Dealer claiming no clue per Nautique related to this issue.
