If you are going to go with a charger with the intention of leaving it plugged for the layup season, make sure it has a float mode of some sort. A basic maintainer can push a continuous charger, although low, which will eventually over charger and/or boil out the battery. A quality float mode basically means the charger shuts itself off until the parasitic draw brings the battery down, sensed by the charger and it wakes back up.
