The Studio Elite option on the G21 includes um-1 with zone control, 6 JL speakers, 2 JL tweeters, 2 JL 10" subwoofers, 1 JL 8 channel amp, and 1 JL mono block amp. The MSRP for this option is $2322. Is it worth it over the included stereo package that comes with PA 450 stereo, 6 JL speakers, 1 JL 10" subwoofer, and 1 JL 8 channel amp.

My decision would partially be based on where those two tweeters are mounted and how and where those two woofers are mounted.

Optimistic?
The two subs would be more of a phasing issue, not only by differences in distance, but particularly if they are loaded differently. One in the open coaming and one inside the port locker would absolutely be phase soup.
But I have yet to see this system.

They've got me confused on the UM-1 zone controller. A google search only comes up with this being part of the standard Polk Head unit. Can someone clarify how they do the separate zone controls on the new stereo?

I was able to crawl around in a 2016 last night. There is no easy zone control for the tower speakers, which is always disappointing when a rider falls and you can't easily turn them down. But there are plenty of aftermarket solutions to that.
The second woofer is indeed in front of the driver enclosed in the compartment there. I did not remove the cover to see exactly how they mounted it. The first subwoofer is in the usual location under the glove box. They are both the 10 inch IB subs from JL. We did not turn it up as we were in my sales guy's back yard and it was getting late. He was prepping the boat for its new owner to take this morning.
I forgot to look for tweeters in the dash, but did not notice them thinking about it now. So while I cannot say for sure that they do not exist, I don't think they do.

I called JL to see what they put in the G's it is the m650 in the dash built in a pod and the sound is through a vent and I believe the tweeter is mounted under the ventLast edited by chrisschweda; 09-25-2015, 04:03 PM.

I got to sit in and mess around with some new 2016 G's both two weekends ago and this past weekend when I returned to put the order in for my own G23. I cannot comment on the tweeters for the G21 as I didn't mess in it too much...but I will confirm that the Studio Elite system with the 2 10" subs really does sound AMAZING! Granted this was in a G25 with the Wavefront system, but to comment on the subs alone...they really pound! My only concern is how would one get to the 2nd sub under the helm if something were to go wrong?! I could not find an access panel to this sub!

There is an access hatch underneath the helm. It is just held on with some of those cheap plastic christmas tree looking plugs that slide into small holes and hold it in place.
If you remove panels from the bow of the boat, you could get in there that way too.

Just got a quote on a g23 and the MSRP for the studio elite package is $4,036. The MSRP for the studio elite package is $2,322 on the g21. As far as I can tell, the only difference between these packages is the G23 has Wavefront. $1714 for wavefront. Is it worth it?
