looking to upgrade my amps to digital need some help.

I have not posted anything on here in a couple of years I think. anyway I am looking to upgrade my amps to the alpine PDX series. I am currently running old school Phoenix Gold Titanium. while my amps sound great, they are old tech and draw huge amount of power. I guess my real question is will I be able to run four of the PDX amps on my two AGM battery setup. I don't really want to upgrade the alt. so is the Draw going to be comparable for 4 PDX amps compared to my 3 Large PE amps. there should be a link to my current setup in my signature below.

    new plan
    1000.1 for subs
150.4 for interior speakers, (old school Boston Pro Series, amazing sound)
    600.1 for my pro 60's
600.1 for the newly acquired Pro 80's.

    thoughts and any info welcome.
    thanks in advance

Theres no way to make a current draw comparison based on the number of amps. You need to have an estimate current draw of the old amps based on how they are setup and an estimated current draw of new amps based on how they are going to be setup. Also, Are the PDX mono amps full-range???? I dont recall that they are.

You are correct MLA thanks for the heads up. looks like I will need 3X150.4 instead and no 600.1's

Have you considered JL Audio? How about an XD800/8v2 bridged for the 4 tower speakers, an XD1000/1v2 for the sub and an XD400/4v2 for the in-boats.

Here's the quick answer, although not precise. Since the new Class D amplifiers are 60% more efficient than the old Class AB amplifiers you should be able to run 60% more amplifier power with the identical current draw.
To make a more accurate conversion you would also have to calculate the impedance load of every channel in each scenario and determine how the load affects both the power and the efficiency. This wouldn't be the only variable but would get you a little closer.
The best way is to actually measure the voltage level after a long period playing the stereo at rest on the typical outing. If you are below 12.0 volts then you need more battery capacity.
It's unlikely you would need an upgrade alternator but it is more likely that you could use more battery capacity, and it is highly likely that you need a Smart AC shore charger.

Btw, odd that Alpine insists on calling their Class D amplifiers "digital" since they are analog switching and there is nothing digital about them. Same as all Class D...."D" does not denote digital.
