    2012 230 sub setup

Hey guys i apologize if this has been brought up and answered many times but i did a quick search and didnt find much. Basically we are slighty upgrading the stereo in our new to us 2012 230.

Basically what we plan to do is add a set of rev 10s along side the 6x9 tower speakers and get a new sub. The sub at the moment is the standard 10" polk free air sub, at the moment it seems to provide no audiable bass but can feel it moving when on. I have heard that these subs arent much good and should be changed if you want a decent bass like thump. Im just wondering if that can be achieved with a different 10" free air sub set up? we dont really have much storage space under the observers seat thus leaning to the stock configuration.

I was also wondering if anyone has made a custom box setup for under the drivers feet thats nice and tidy? I dont really like the free air setups but hand are kind of tied to run that type. Any help or info would be greatly appreciated thanks

In actuality, the Polk sub is a good sub, its the Nautique execution thats bad. The real problem is, is that the polk sub is not an infinite-baffle (free-air) woofer, even though its installed as one. This compromises its designed performance. Put it in a proper enclosure, and its a whole new woofer. Down side is, you will not get a proper enclosure in behind the woofer, so the ideal solution is to install a true IB woofer like the JL or Wet Sounds. Power and tuning will also play a major part of the woofer's output.

Putting 6 x 9 coaxials next to Rev-10's is like a whisper on a scream. Drop the 6x9's and just run the new rev-10's. With proper power and tuning, you will never miss the old speakers.

thanks for the reply mate, so you reckon theres no point at all even having them up there next to the rev 10s? i was actually suprised at how clear i could hear them out wakeboarding
