Help wiring new head unit 02 SAN

I Just put in a new Pioneer head unit and am having problems with engine noise through stereo. How do I hook up my two power leads (switched and non switched) and not loose all of my preset stuff on my head unit when I turn the boat switch to "all off"? Thanks in advance for your help.

kendh, the yellow wire on your head unit should go directly to the battery if you do not want to loose your presets, and of course, the red wire will go to an ignition power source. In terms of the engine noise, it's probably a ground loop or improper ground. Are you also running a separate amplifier, because the issue might also be with the wiring there. Let us know.

Yes, I am running a Eclipse 5 chanel amp also, 4 MB Quart components and a JL 12" sub. My amp is connected direct to the battery hot and ground with super heavy guage cable. It sounds perfect until I start the boat. What would be the proper ground for the head, and it is a long way to the battery, what about wire sizing. Your help is much appreciated!

Run all of your power wires to the same point and all of your negative wires to the same point. The only thing that should come from the stock wiring harness is the switched red to the deck. Use good twisted wire RCA's and run them away from the power wires.
