Just picked up some XM9's for the 210.

Well.........decided after years of Wetsounds it was just time to try something new. I have always liked the looks of them. Loved the chrome look on their grilles. Just always had the hookup with Wetsounds. After talking with Brian a bit and confirming my questions I took the plunge.

I will install these on my ride Sunday night. Went with the XM9's. I have had Krypt Audio 6.5 HLCD , NVS, Pro 60's , Pro 80's , and most recently Rev 8's. While I could definitely appreciate the fine tuning of the Rev 8's near field I just thought it was little too much trade off at the end of the line for me compared to the Pro 80's. I only listen to them while I am riding. Not much party cove and I surf maybe 15% of our boat. ( for the record I was running the 8's off a Syn 4 so definitely had the correct power to them, that same Syn 4 will power the XM9's). Running a Wetsounds 420SQ as well.

I was left with the choice of going Rev 10 or XM9. I know everyone is going to say not apples to apples due to 10inch (Rev) vs 8 and some change(XM9) drivers, but I wanted more than a single set of Rev 8's could offer at the end of the line, but didn't think I was ready for the jump to the 10's. The Exile XM9's are rated at 280RMS and the Rev 10'a at 300RMS I am thinking the XM9's are going to be just enough ummf over the 8's I need. The XM9 's were also priced a little better than the XM9's. To be expected , but adding a second set of XM9's wouldn't be out of reach. So you can go back and forth all day. I think one set Rev10's may give your more than 1 pair of XM9 but then for just bit more than 1 set Rev 10's you can have 2 pair of XM9's. Then just a bit more you get the max with 4 Rev 10's. Right now though really only want two pods.

First look. love the pods. For me really like the curves and features over the Wetsounds. Subjective for sure. My boat has the upgraded full throttle package with stainless tower and windshield frame. The Exile grilles accent that awesome. Really like the quick release on the XM9's. Makes removing them a cinch. Haven't put them through the long term test yet, so when I do I'll be coming back with an update. The other nice feature I really like was the swiveling grille. The entire grille can rotate to keep the grille in line with any angle you mount the speakers at. Really nice small feature. The speaker cases are really nice quality with a soft felt lining. Love the fact they have built in handles very nice touch. I know the Wetsounds do as well but theirs are 100 or so extra.

I'll be back with a sound review once I can get some time behind the boat. I am really curious about the adjustable "quick fire"crossover ability of these which allows you to change how the speaker sounds to tweak it to your liking. So far at first glance I am extremely happy with the swap and excited to get em powered up.

They look good but what about going 2 rev 410's? Those are beasts! I've been running 2 485's for a while now with a bridged t600 on each one! Awesomeness. Would love to see how some rev 410s would sound

I hear u on that one! Every time I go need to remove one of my 485's or no way can I fold it. But it's still a beast to fold with one hanging on it! With the nice design in the clamps it's not to hard though takes about a min., just use the cordless impact.

can't wait to hear what you think. i have 4 of these as well.flat black grill to match other areas of the boat.Just dont know how to tune them properly.there running off the POLK amp. It was all on the boat when i got it but it doesn't sound anywhere near as good as the one set of these i had on my last boat with a harpoon amp and tuned properly. can't wait to get the 4 pumping. I too like the easy removal , and the covers are great. Mine is on a 2013 210.

Got en hung and powered up. Really digging the looks and the quick release. A cinch to get on and off. Huge advantage no tools required. I will say I think the swivel mounts were bit more heavy duty on the Wetsounds, but at a cost of ease and tools. We will see how XM9's fair on rough days.

Sound is definitely different than any of the other speakers I have owned. I'll go with not as bright and tinny as a Pro 80 but not nearly as warm as the my previous Rev 8's. I crossed then over in high pass at 80. Seemed to be were i liked em standing still on the trailer. With the 420SQ makes adjustments cake anyways.

I am not concerned with] their party cove or surf sound. My priority is wake range sound. 90% of the time they're powered up will be at wake range. So projection is bit higher on the priority list than pure near field SQ.

It was windy as all heck riding. Not fair to give a full review just quite yet at 75ft with the wind in your face at 23.5mph but I could hear then no problem. I liked the brightness for sure. I felt out of the box the Rev series gives you more on the near field midbass but XM9 had the brighter feel I like at the end of the line. All trade offs for me that suit my needs. Not saying one is better than the other. It truly just is a different sound.

Can you share any thoughts on the effectiveness of the tweeter switch in the open boating environment?

At first trial it didn't really seem to have a huge effect on sound, like an oh wow the switch must be flipped. From what I could hear, it basically makes the horn a little hotter/brighter. Probably would add a little projection. Didn't get much time at the end of the rope to compare the sound between the 2 positions. At the higher volume you could notice the difference while tuning, but at a normal listening volume in boat almost negligible to my ears.
