    Amp replacement

I've got a polk da 5000.5 running 4 polk db 651 on the tower, 2 in boat db651 in the cabin and 2 db651 in the bow ran off the head unit. I've got the stock polk sub. My 5000.5 is currently running everything and has a bad switch so I've got to constantly wiggle it to make it work. I'm looking to replace the amp. Would it be better to run another 5 channel amp for the boats and a 2 channel for the tower or possibly 2 4 channels for boat and the sub or replace with 1 5 channel for boat speakers and the sub with a 2 channel for the tower? I'm not looking at going crazy and having to change anymore out then amps. The ppi phantoms look like a good price and specs to run my stuff. It would be 2 900.4and a 600.2 or a 900.5and a 600.2. Anybody have any insights?

Not a recommendation per say, just an FYI, but the phantom series are basically the same amp as the polk da series.

I would certainly suggest a dedicated tower amp. A 2 chnl is the way to go. This would allow for a 2nd pair to be added later

For a 4 ohm sub and only 2 pair of 4 ohm in-boats, an efficient 4 chnl could certainly do the job. On the other hand, going with another 4 chnl gives each full-range speaker its own chnl with room to add a 3rd pair later.

Def going to run with the 600.2 for the tower and wire them parallel?
Just have to figure what I want to do in the boat. Best to give the sub its own amp and run the other 3 pair off a 4 channel? Keep the 5 channel setup and run 2 pairs and sub on it with bow off the head unit. Not trying to be the loudest on the water just want to get a clean sound without breaking the bank.

I overlooked that you already have a pair on the bow, running off the head-unit. A 5 chnl is what you want as it will drive those 3 pair of in-boats as the sub. For the life of me, i do not know why they dont do this from the factory. Everyone we get a hold, we take the bow pair off the head-unit and relocate to the amp.

Any good recommendations on 5 channel replacement from the Polk 5000.5. And how to wire the 3 pairs and sub on it?

A few solid options i like, in no particular order: Kicker KXM800.5, JL M700/5 and Arc Xdi850.5. I would also consider the Wet Sounds HT-6 and the JL M600/6. These two are 6 chnl amps, but can drive a sub also.
