2003 SN - Amp and HU wiring

Getting stereo installed in my newly acquired 2003 SN. The boat is pre-wired for stereo, but I am having a hard time figuring out the best way to connect Amp and HU for power.

Question 1: What is the best way to get power / ground wires from amp in to the battery compartment? I can just run them down into the battery compartment, but then the cover does not fully close. There is a port in the side of the compartment, but I cannot figure out how to get to it.

Question 2: My HU (Sony MEX-M70BT) wiring harness has a black, red, and yellow wire, which corresponds to the 4 pin connector in the boat (see pic). Should I just clip off the 4 pin connector (boat side) and connect those wires to the HU wires? Or is there a better way to connect?

    Thanks!!!

So the two white connectors you show in your photos are called Molex connectors. The 3 pin is your power, ground and accessory for your head unit. If you have the old head unit, you could use the other end of the Molex and solder your new head unit wires to the wires that remain (from the old head unit). The larger Molex is your speaker wires. Again, do the same with the old connector. If you didn't have a head unit, I would just cut the Molex and solder to the wires directly. There are many Molex sizes out there; you will spend more time than you wish trying to find the match.

Look in your engine compartment under where your pylon is located. You should be able to see how the battery wires are routed. I'm not familiar with the Ski Nautiques and their build for this generation, but you should be able so follow the battery wires from your starter back to the battery and see what is under / near that section.
