Dual Batteries

I am looking at putting dual bateries in my SAN and I was wondering if I use an isolator do the batteries have to be the same type?

I use a stinger (relay/isolator) with two differnet batteries with no problem (that i know of).... Interstate to crank her up and optima blue top for the sound system.

Both relay and isolator will work, both have some downsides like voltage drop. Check out a battery combiner, that's what I use and it seems to work extremely well.
