Like some of you out there, I was disappointed that my new to me 2013 G23 didnt have an integrated bluetooth head unit....I wanted to pass along and easy seamless, plug and play upgrade that will give you that capability that is even fully compatible with the LINC systems on our boats. I originally had a CMD7 Clarion head unit....Maybe Im missing something, but I dont play CD's anymore and dont really know how much anybody does anymore. With this in mind, I wanted to get rid of the CD capability on my head unit. I purchased the CMS2 Clarion head unit. It plugged right in to existing wiring on the boat and every single thing worked both on the head unit and through the linc system. I even have more things that are shown on the linc screen than before....best part, it connects to my phone bluetooth every time without fail. Everyone asks about getting the polk head unit and if it will work on the pre 2014 boats.....it wont, but its not a big deal....buy the CMS2 and youre all set!
There is a small catch though....The footprint for the CMS2 is slightly smaller than the hole thats cut for the CMD series head units. I just want to Home Depot, got a piece of thick acrylic, cut it to fit and cover the hole, covered it with matching vinyl and it looks great. I went above and beyond with the acrylic and vinyl, but you could literally just get a piece of plastic or metal or whatever you want and cover the only 3/4" gap. Well worth the time in my opinion to have a seamless bluetooth integration to our boats. Best part....CMS2 is under $200 on ebay or Amazon....
