I just picked my boat from the stereo shop. I have gotten many ideas from this site so I figured everyone would like to see the install for some ideas of their own. I did some things that I have not seen done before.
First thing I did was remove everything that came factory. I installed a new Pioneer head unit and a pioneer marine remote. They did some custom fabrication work to make the new wired remote look like it came factory.
Next was replace all six factory speakers with Eclipse Point Source 5 1/4"s. These are run on a Directed 750 amp.
Next was the bass. They built an enormous custom enclosure out of marine plywood and then resined it and coated it will gelcoat. This is the box for 2- JL 13W7's which fire towards the hull of the boat. They removed the hinged part of my passenger seat to be able to fit the box. It is ported toward the front of the open bow area. The passenger seat mounts on top of the box. They covered it with the carpet from the board on top of my rear ballast tank so it mathces perfect and looks factory. Unless you know Nautiques, you would really never notice this box. The subs are ran off a Directed 2400d.
I only had this boat for a week before I had the stereo install done. The factory "system" was OK but I wanted some real bass. I really do not like Clarion, hence changing out my head unit.
The stereo is extremely loud and clear. The bass is amazing for a boat. It actually hurts to sit in the front of the boat. The install took some time but I am really happy with what they did. Everything can easily go back to factory. The box can be moved to another boat with no modification.
