    Audio Upgrade for 1999 196

Are there any recommendations/suggestions for replacing the factory (4) 6" speakers and adding an inconspicuous sub-woofer under the closed-bow on a 1999 196? I do not have a tower

Pull 'em out to save some weight and then leave 'em out. No one other than you wants to hear YOUR music on a public lake. Enjoy the activity and the company you're with. No music required.

I've got a blue tooth Kenwood HU, JL M700/5, 4x alpine sps-m600s, and a jl 10w3. Should be Decent tunes for everyone in the boat but not over kill. I've never cared to hear music outside the boat.

I did my 98SN with 4 Kicker KM6LC and a Polk 12 in a smallish sealed box at the driver footwell. Made a plate below the throttle to mount the driver speaker to. All powered by a mid-end 4 channel amp. 4 boat speakers on front channels, sup on bridged rears. Front loaded boat speakers with foam baffles. The foam baffles are key to getting any bass out of the boat speakers. Head unit was a Clarion Bluetooth unit. All equip was under $800. These older boats have limited charging capacity, go easy on the amplifier, class d helps.

I did an install on my 01 SAN and put the kicker speakers in and added 2 int the bow. I can't remember the model number off my head but I chose the speakers with the built in LED lights. A great look for the dusk and night time cruises. Also front loaded them and look nice and sound great.
