speaker help for SD6 to power

Give a little back ground. I acquired 2 syn 2 amps for my wetsound pro80s, and a SD6 to power my in boat speakers. With the intention of upgrading my in boat speakers to take full advantage of the SD6.

    Amp specs:
    SD6
    185w@4ohms-x6
    290w@2ohms-x6

So far my search is the mm651um seems pretty promising

    MM651UM
    4ohms
    100watts- continues
    200watts - peak
(polk audio suggested amp size 150watts)

along with the Polk audio mm651UM it has very high reviews and apparently is the #1 marine audio speaker i could find on comparisons to other marine speakers.

I have done a little bit of research, and the original intention was to go with Polk Audio MM651UMs. But before i commit to start buying the polks i just want to see what other options are out there for me.

Any suggestions, or opinions would be helpful.

I see no reason not to jump straight to the Wetsounds XS650's. I have had the Polks and the Wetsounds. Hands down I preferred the sound of the Wetsounds. Powered exactly the same off Syn 4 I really liked the highs and lows offered by the Wetsounds. It's really appreciated at the top end when you have the hammer down. The tweeter on the Wetsounds really gets things amped up
I feel the Polks gave you a little more truer, even speaker, but the pop from the Wetsounds was killer. Both are great speakers.

Add JL M series in there too. Not as bright as the Wetsounds in the highs but they sound about as even as any speaker could and that carries all the way through the volume spectrum.

If you're looking for the loudest popping party boat, I think the Wetsounds are hard to beat. If you're looking for the truest, smoothing sounding boat. .......The JL M series is the ticket. If you're looking for a nice blend and not break the bank as much the Polk's are a solid performing speaker. You have some of the baddest amps on the market at the moment. Pair them up with the right speakers.

I'm familiar with that same marine speaker review, and it is totally bogus. Politics are involved and the review is based on nothing deeper than manufacturer generated specs against market price. The Polk specs are questionable also and can't be compared across brand to brand.
The review and specs aside, I would not consider the Polk #1. I would rate the JL Audio MX650 (less cost than the M650 and definitely in the game) and the Wetsounds XS650 as better speakers. And that has also been consistent with consumer choices when they were able to hear the three side by side in an equal setting with equal power. However, I do believe that the MM651UM (and not the lesser MM651) is a good marine speaker that deserves to be in the top five or six.

I found the review to be questionable, thus the reasoning behind the post. I posted the same thread on wakeworld, they recommended the same MX650, and XS650. But i was able to get a killer deal on the Syn2s and SD6 from the local dealer, so i figured i need to be sure my speakers are up for the task...

It sounds like ill be going with JL or westounds. Though the mm651um is not completely off the table yet.

JL MX650 would be my recommendation. I installed 4 in my Pro Air and love them. Reach out to Odin at Earmark Audio. When I got ready to upgrade my boat's audio I sent him a list of equipment I was considering and he sent me back a killer quote. He made the whole transaction very easy and I had everything within a week of placing the order.
